Lian Li has officially confirmed that its unique curved PC-Q30 mini-ITX case will be heading to the UK, with availability set for the end of July.

Constructed, as you might expect from Lian Li, from brushed aluminium, the PC-Q30 is certainly eye-catching. Its curved front looks like some sort of point-of-sale promotional cage, and provides a acrylic window providing a top-down view of the rear-mounted motherboard and components. The idea, the company has explained, is to allow enthusiasts to put their rigs on full display - but in doing so, the design takes up a not inconsiderable amount of extra space.

One thing that stands out from Lian Li's gallery of images provided to promote the case is that none of them show the cables connected. There's a good reason for that: to allow the motherboard to be mounted face-on to the window, the input/output panel and the case's two expansion slots are located on the top rather than the rear. While the curved front extends past the body of the case to hide the cables, it's still likely to result in a not-particularly-attractive bundle of wires sprouting from the lid of the machine.

Graphics cards of up to 200mm in length are fully supported by the PC-Q30, while storage is handled by room for four 2.5" hard drives or SSDs in a removable drive cage located at the bottom of the case. There's no room for 3.5" units, however, and those of you who still rely on optical drives will need to get out your Dremels or resign yourselves to an external, USB-connected model - making use of the 2x USB 3.0 IO panel with audio connectivity located on the left-hand side of the case, perhaps.

Cooling is handled by a 140mm fan in the rear of the chassis, with ventilation slots on the top and side allowing for intake. Only small form factor power supplies are supported, with a maximum length of 125mm - although the rubber mounting pads, designed to prevent the transmission of vibration from the PSU's cooling fan to the chassis, is welcome. The power button, located at the front of the case, uses a dual LED to glow blue when on and red during IO activity.

The Lian Li PC-Q30 is due to go on sale in the UK towards the end of next month, priced at £93.30 without power supply. More information is available on the company's official website, or you can enjoy a video tour of its various features below.
