Thermaltake has announced two new variants of its Core P5 desk-or-wall-mount chassis: the Core P5 Tempered Glass Edition and Tempered Glass Snow Edition.
Based on the Core P5 chassis we reviewed
early last month, the Core P5 does away with the acrylic side panel of the original open-frame design in favour of a 5mm tempered glass panel, along with additional panels to the front and rear to partially close the design. Those who would prefer to keep the Core P5 open, of course, are free to remove any of the included panels, which are held in place with tool-free thumbscrews.
As with its plastic-encased predecessor, the P5 Core Tempered Glass models support horizontal, vertical, or wall mounting, can take a CPU cooler with a 180mm height - more if the side panel is left off - and graphics cards up to 320mm in length mounted horizontally or vertically. Four 3.5in or 2.5in storage drives are supported in the bundled drive racks, while a 480mm liquid-cooling radiator can be fitted a the cost of a reduction in supported graphics card lengths. A bundled AIO bracket also offers support for all-in-one and sealed-loop cooling systems.
Thermaltake claims to have designed the Core P5 family with modders in mind: The entire chassis can be dismantled without the need to resort to drilling out rivets, and various 3D design files are provided on the company's website for customisation and 3D printing of replacement or modified parts.
More information on the Core P5 Tempered Glass and Core P5 Tempered Glass Snow Edition, differing only in their respective black and white colour schemes, is available on the
official website. UK pricing has yet to be confirmed.
