EVGA has unveiled what it claims is 'the ultimate overclocking graphics card', the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Classfied K|NGP|N Edition.
Working in conjunction with record breaking overclocker Vince "K|NGP|N" Lucido, the K|NGP|N Edition takes what is already the fastest single-GPU graphics card available and boosts its abilities thanks to enhanced power circuitry, a voltage boost and subsequent out the box overclock.
The chief advantage of this card is it can pull in up to 450W of power through its dual 8pin + 6pin power inputs then it cleans it all up using a massive 14+3 phase power circuit. The standard GTX 780 Ti has a 6+2 phase circuit.
To accommodate all that extra circuitry the board is much taller than a normal card, and a bit longer too. It also uses a custom cooler with two 100mm down-blasting fans, so you'll need a well ventilated case to get rid of that hot air.
“In order to break world records these days you need some serious hardware,” said Vince “K|NGP|N” Lucido. “This card was engineered to serve one purpose… be the world’s best overclocking graphics card. Expect GPU clockspeeds at over 1.85GHz with extreme cooling.”
Normally known for its classy black colour schemes, this card instead uses a rather less cohesive blend of black PCB, semi-transparent cooler shroud and red highlights.
So what does all that extra power, cooling and overclocking potential get you? In screenshots provided by EVGA a GPU clock of 1,894MHz is shown, with a resulting 3DMark FireStrike score of 16,770. We haven't tested 3DMark FireStrike but when we overclocked a standard GTX 780 Ti we got it to 1,100MHz, making the EVGA card some 72% faster!
The catch? That overclock was done under extreme cooling conditions. Still, if you fancy a good excuse for getting into liquid nitrogen cooling, this may be it.
We're still awaiting word on when the card will be available and how much it will cost.
