Gigabyte has announced the impending launch of what is likely to be the most insane PC gaming graphics bundle in history, packing three Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 graphics cards with custom liquid cooling system in a £2,499.95 package.
Based around the company's WaterForce liquid cooling design, the Gigabyte 3-Way GeForce GTX 980 WaterForce Gaming Graphics card kit packs - as the name suggests - three of Nvidia's flagship GTX 980 graphics cards, each featuring 4GB of GDDR5 memory on a 256-bit interface and boasting a GM204 graphics processing unit featuring 2,048 CUDA cores running at 1,228MHz base and 1,329MHz boost clocks. Offering three cards together in a single bundle would be newsworthy enough given their high individual selling prices, but Gigabyte has gone one step further: a custom-made sealed-loop liquid cooling system.
Available exclusively with the bundle, the cooling system isn't designed to fit inside a case: instead, three independent 120mm radiators and matching fans are positioned inside a dedicated metal housing which is designed to clip to the top of the user's case. A front panel provides monitoring and control via a display and independent fan and pump speed controls for each card. A 5.25" unit sits in the top bacy of the user's PC, and provides a point of entry for the six - three intake, three outtake - water pipes.
In short: the pack is an absolute beast, and while it's technically nothing a builder couldn't put together from existing parts the company is clearly hoping the convenience and exclusivity will appeal to well-heeled gamers with a few grand to burn.
Overclockers UK has confirmed that it has negotiated exclusivity for the bundle in the UK, and is taking pre-orders ahead of an expected shipment tomorrow at a whopping £2,499.95 - a higher than £1,000 premium over the cost of three air-cooled Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 graphics cards purchased individually.
