MSI shows a custom-cooled GTX 465

With Nvidia's launch of its GeForce GTX 465, we've got some images of one of the first custom-cooled card from MSI.

With its Twin Frozr II cooler sporting five 8mm heatpipes, MSI claims a reduction in temperatures of 19°C versus the retail cooler. The two fans are controlled automatically via the driver in the same way that the normal GTX 465 card is, but we expect MSI's Afterburner overclocking software will enable some customisation. Failing that, just use EVGA's Precision tweaking app.

The card sports the usual two DVI and one HDMI connector, with an MSI vent cut-out that might add branding, but doesn't particularly help hot exhaust air escape. On the plus side, the cooler remains two slots thick despite the chunky heatsink and addition of two fans, unlike several after-market coolers for high-end cards that creep into triple- or even quad-slot domain.

Underneath the heatsink, the 1GB of GDDR5 memory is cooled by a simple heatplate, and the card also uses the standard twin 6-pin PCI-E power connectors too. We've been told there will be additional 'Twin Frozr II' branding on the side of the card that faces out of the case on retail samples.
