Mionix has announced the CASTOR - a gaming mouse that offers up to 10,000DPI sensitivity courtesy of a PMW-3310 sensor.
Following in the footsteps of a range of successful peripherals, including gaming mice, the CASTOR uses an optical sensor to offer 1:1 tracking and no positive or negative hardware acceleration plus a maximum speed of more than 5.45m/sec (215 IPS).
The CASTOR is a 6 button multi-color optical right-handed ergonomic gaming mouse. The shape has been developed to be used by right-handed gamers, and to equally support palm, claw and fingertip-grip. The mouse has a dedicated pinky-and ring-finger support-groove.
The new lift-off distance (LOD) Calibration feature combines the Surface Quality Analyzer Tool (S.Q.A.T) with adjustment of the lift-off height to find the lowest possible LOD with optimized tracking. The 32bit ARM processor enables the mouse to have numerous gaming features without compromising on the tracking of the sensor.
The downloadable software provides access to fully customize all buttons, sensor settings, LEDcolors, macros and profiles. Castor is the second brightest star in the constellation Gemini and one of the brightest stars in the night sky. In Greek and Roman mythology, Castor and Pollux were twin brothers, together known as the Dioscuri.
The Dioscuri were regarded as helpers of humankind. Their role as horsemen and boxers also led to them being regarded as the patrons of athletes and athletic contests. They characteristically intervened at the moment of crisis, aiding those who honored or trusted them.
