ASRock has revealed a new mini-ITX motherboard using the Intel Bay Trail platform.
The Q1900TM-ITX will be based on the quad-core Celeron J1900 processor, which operates at 2.0 GHz. What sets this apart from other Bay Trail boards is that It is built on the thin mini-ITX form factor.
Due to the low end performance of the board, ASRock is likely targeting users that want to set up a media centre or a low budget home PC. Prices for the motherboard are currently listed at approximately €120.
The board includes three USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0 port, a VGA and HDMI port and an ethernet port. In terms of expansion, It will have room for a single PCI-E 2.0 x 1 slot and a mini PCI-E slot. Power requirements are low enough that they can be handled by an external power brick that connects to the board's DC input.
Intel’s Bay Trail was first announced last September alongside the low-power Quark processor. Bay Trail was touted as a solution primarily aimed at powering tablets and hybrid devices, but also designed with the intention to be future proof enough to be useful for new form factors including wearable computers and more specialised robotics projects.
The primary competition for Bay Trail is AMD's AM1 product family which was announced in April this year.
