A group of enthusiasts from bit-tech's forum have decided to organise a UK-orientated overclocking competition with members from other forums joining in to take part in the fun.

All you need is a system capable of running an AGP graphics card and some time on your hands. In order to make the competition a more dependent on the graphics card, they've chosen a batch of Radeon 9600 SE's from Retek Direct for the competition. The generous guys at Retek have given the competition organisers a great deal on the video cards in order to make it easier for people to take part.

As a direct result of this, you'll be able to purchase your card from the competition organisers for around £23 including delivery. They're also offering to volt-mod the cards for an additional £7 if you're unable to do that yourself. A volt modded card should help you to increase your chances of winning the competition.

Along with Retek Direct, a number of companies have stepped up to sponsor the competition, including ourselves. The current prize kitty is as follows:

1st Prize for air cooling category:

Sponsored by bit-tech.net - 1 x BFG Tech GeForce 7800 GS OC 256MB video card;

1st Prize for water cooling category:

Sponsored by ATI Technologies - 1 x All-In-Wonder X1800XL 256MB video card;

1st Prize for 'other' cooling methods category:

Sponsored by Coolercases UK and Extreme Prometeia

1 x full AlphaCool kit in either 1/2" or 3/8" bore, including:
and...

1 x D-Tek Little River White Water CPU water block from Extreme Prometeia.

Runners' Up Prizes:

4-S Hosting - 3 x 'Student' hosting accounts.

The closing date for registration is tonight at 10pm GMT. You will receive your card by the 5th April, pending payment with the first phase of the competition taking place between the 10-16th April 10pm GMT, with the final phase following on and continuing until the 27th April at 10pm GMT.
