Logitech's gaming-centric G-series of gaming keyboards has expanded by two models based on the popular Cherry MX switches: the G610 Orion Brown and Orion Red.
The overall design of both the Logitech G610 Orion Brown and G610 Orion Red is, unsurprisingly, identical: the difference comes only in the choice of switches. The Brown includes Cherry MX Brown switches, offering a quiet yet tactile feedback; the Red instead features Cherry MX Red switches, which offer a silent linear actuation popular among gamers. 'Keyboard enthusiasts want a variety of options,' explained Ujesh Desai, vice president and general manager of gaming at Logitech, at the launch. 'Our new G610 Orion keyboards deliver a clean, sophisticated design along with a choice of mechanical switches.'
Each model features customisable LED backlighting, controlled via the bundled Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) package, with the usual pattern and animation effects. The G610 Orion also includes dedicated media control keys, including a roller for volume control, along with customisable macros assignable to the function keys. In short: they're what you would expect from a mechanical gaming keyboard, with a few extras thrown in for good measure.
The full-size keyboards are due to launch in March at a recommended retail price of €139 regardless of switch colour choice. UK pricing and availability has yet to be formally confirmed.
