Pat Misterovich, a stay at home dad, has made something incredible. After securing a license from PEZ, he started creating a 'PEZ MP3' player.
This cleanly designed mp3 player is a great alternative to those not wishing to buy an Ipod shuffle. For $99.99, you can receive a 'First Edition PEZ MP3 Player' with 512mb of flash memory. Works with Windows systems and Mac OSX computers. It will play all your mp3's, wma's, and even doubles as a USB drive and is compatible with subscription services like Rhapsody. Includes the player, headphones, and USB cable.
On the site, Pat writes:
"If you are looking for an MP3 player that is a little different.... If you love PEZ... If you like the idea of a stay-at-home dad, working out of his basement, taking on the giants of Cupertino, Tokyo, and Seoul... If you love independent music, podcasts, blogs, maverick ideas, and doing it yourself... This is the MP3 player for you."
Good stuff. The player might be a little overpriced for a 512MB model, but the idea is certainly neat, and the niche of hardcore Pez collectors that will want these will almost certainly be commercialy exploitable. Plus, those innards have got to be moddable - it will almost certainly be possible to grab a Star Wars Pez head and get a Darth Vader MP3 player!
