EVGA has announced and launched its newest high-end PSU, the SuperNOVA 1200 P2.
The unit features a high amperage single 12V rail, Japanese Nippon Chemi-Con solid state capacitors and a 140mm double ball bearing fan. The power supply also has a built in current protection function and ECO thermal control to reduce noise and energy costs.
The design of the unit itself is described as ‘fully modular’ and is streamlined to reduce clutter inside a case whilst also enhancing airflow.
A press release from the company boasts that the unit has a 92% efficiency rate and an 80 Plus Platinum rating - now the second highest after Titanium. The PSU has been created with stability and overclocking in mind and is certified for use with fourth generation Intel Core processors.
The unit retails at approximately $270 and is supplied with a 10 year warranty. A European release is yet to be confirmed.
The hardware company also launched a similar 1600W model back in April with the SuperNOVA 1600 G2. Along with the higher wattage, the 1600 G2 also comes with a higher $350 price tag.
Last year, EVGA recalled several models in its SuperNOVA series due to a manufacturing defect that could lead to unexpected shutdowns or an inability for the units to turn on. This was due to not enough effective insulation inside the unit.
