Wargaming has announced availability of tickets to its Weekend at War, World War 2 themed film festival.

Taking place at the Picture House Stratford East in London, the event runs over the weekend of the 4th to the 7th of July.

A showcase of the best classic WW2 films, it will feature the regulars such as The Great Escape and The Guns Of Navarone as well as a few less well known titles such as the Pearl Harbour-based Tora Tora Tora.

The organiser of the event, Wargaming, has had huge success with its tank-fighting MMO, World of Tanks, and has been putting its name to a number of such promotional projects lately, giving something back to its audience in the process, including recently sponsoring the education centre at the Bovington tank museum.

The Weekend at War will open with The Great Escape on Thursday at 7pm then follow with two films on Friday, four on Saturday and two on Sunday. The films all run in succession so there are no clashes, and it will be a rare opportunity to see these classic films on a big screen.

Wargaming hasn't detailed any other activities that will be happening around the event, such as providing WW2-themed snacks, or running plummy accent competitions. It's also a bit of a shame that none of the more modern classics such as Saving Private Ryan or, that most factual of all war films, Inglorious Basterds are included.

Pricing isn't overly subsidised, either, with tickets for single films set a £8.50 while a pass to see all the films costs a hefty £55.

You can grab tickets from here.

We'll be hoping to make our way to one or two of the showings so we'll maybe see some of you there.
