The Gaming Revolution, first display in the market with 50000:1 contrast ratio

London, 9th July 2008 - Acer, the third largest vendor in the global PC market (source: Gartner data, 4Q 2007), today presented the new G24 widescreen LCD monitors, specifically designed for gamers and users who are looking for flawless high-definition graphics quality and seamless motion for today's graphic-intense and fast-paced games.

A perfect companion to the new Aspire Predator extreme gaming desktop PC, the G24 LCD display has an innovative and radical design, with a striking orange copper/black colour scheme. The forceful exterior design, with slanted surfaces and sharp corners, endows the G24 with a powerful, warrior-like look, while deeply carved lines on the base of the foot stand convey a rugged military look and feel. Thanks to its stunning performance the G24 will see you through the most exciting gaming challenges.

Encased in a copper coloured bezel, the 24-inch CrystalBrite widescreen panel supports a resolution of 1920 x 1200, making this monitor the perfect choice for advanced 1080p Full HD gaming and multimedia applications. The accelerated response rate of 2ms significantly improves grey-to-grey levels, which delivers high-quality moving pictures for 3D games and videos and makes a dramatic difference to the moving-picture viewing experience.

Supporting an aspect ratio of 16:10 and featuring an advanced digital HDMI port with HDCP support, the G24 LCD displays digital HD movies, broadcasts and online media with unrivalled quality. In addition, the HDMI interface provides instant connectivity to the most popular digital devices such as DVDs, set-top boxes and HD games consoles.

With the G24, Acer is the first display brand to launch a monitor with the amazing dynamyic contrast ratio of 50000:1. This level of contrast ratio, optimized by Acer Adaptive Contrast Management, offers an outstanding improvement in gradation and detail, especially with dim or bright images. The result is extraordinary picture quality.

The wide viewing angle of 176° provides comfortable viewing for multiple viewers, while a 400 cd/m² brightness driving superlative clarity and precision and with 94.1 pixels per inch (PPI) the G24 LCD displays take full advantage of the latest multimedia applications.

Thanks to the Acer CrystalBrite technology, the G24 tops both normal glare and non-glare displays and achieves three essential improvements: brighter images through the reduction of backlight diffusion, a superior contrast with minimal ambient light scattering, clearer images and sharper edges without ambient light reflection. As a result, the Acer G24 LCD display delivers exceptionally vivid and sharp images right down to the very smallest detail.

Acer display technologies

Acer G24 LCD display uses Acer's display technologies to provide users with the best viewing experience.

Acer eColor Management, a technology which adapts the performance of the panel to different environments, lighting conditions and viewing preferences. Acer eColor Management optimizes the image for an enhanced front-of-screen performance, with a range of user-selected scenarios: standard mode (normal settings for medium-level display performance), text mode (suited for on-screen viewing of documents, spreadsheets, etc.), graphics mode (for colourful static images) and user modes (lets you fine-tune basic settings and personalize your viewing experience);

Adaptive Contrast Management (ACM) dynamically adjusts the contrast ratio of the input image to achieve ultra-sharp images. Every scene is analyzed to adjust images frame by frame and enhance colour quality, achieving the whitest whites and the deepest blacks. Acer Adaptive Contrast Management allows your LCD monitor to use less power and save energy. Acer G24 supports a contrast ratio up to 50000:1.

Acer eDisplay Management a new application developed for both the P3 and P1 series specifically to fine-tune all functions normally controlled by the OSD buttons on the front panel. Acer eDisplay Management helps manage brightness, contrast, focus (choosing the native resolution) position, colour balance and temperature. Each personalized setting can be stored and quickly recalled for different applications or lightning conditions.

Zoning/Picture In Picture enables users to quickly select and adjust a region on the display, independently from the desktop. This feature is very useful to get the best viewing quality for each application window open on the desktop.

Acer eDisplay also supports additional tools like theft management, colour management and asset management for MIS managers to remotely control the display settings and lifecycle.

Finally, as with all Acer products, the G24 LCD displays comply with the strict Energy Star EPA Tier 2 power efficiency standard. In addition, all Acer monitors conform to the WEEE Directive for environmental product recycling.
