Fans can now live the life of a footballer whilst watching the latest goals and highlights on the Gillette Football Club


28 NOV 2012 – Today, Gillette has announced popular online football game, I AM PLAYR, as the latest feature available on Gillette Football Club. Along with bringing the best goals and highlights across European football in one place, for free, fans can now virtually play the life of a professional footballer both on and off the pitch thanks to I AM PLAYR’s unique gameplay.

Following its recent global launch, the Gillette Football Club is continuing in its aim to create the best football experience for fans online and this gaming addition is a major step as the channel evolves.

I AM PLAYR, the first game of its kind, allows players to experience the trials and tribulations of a top-flight footballer, helped along the way by appearances from some of the very best and biggest names in football. More than 6.8 million men in over 220 countries already play I AM PLAYR, which combines live action video with interactive story-telling and first-person perspective 3D game play. This partnership is set to increase I AM PLAYR’s global user base still further.

As well as hosting I AM PLAYR on the Gillette Football Club, Gillette products will also be woven into the game through a host of innovative narrative integrations, starting with a Gillette Sports Science Centre. Focussed around optimising match day performance and building confidence, the Gillette Sports Science Centre will give I AM PLAYR users opportunities to meet with the Gillette Sports Science Centre staff - a Head of Sports Science, Sports Psychologist and Elite Performance Director - who will provide specialised treatments that boost the user’s on-pitch abilities, such as shooting, dribbling and passing.

In the future, I AM PLAYR users will also be offered the chance to become the ‘face of Gillette’ as a virtual brand ambassador. All of the new content will only be available to I AM PLAYR users who sign-up to Gillette Football Club, a new YouTube brand channel that changes the way fans enjoy, follow and share their love of football. The deal will help drive registrations to the channel from people across the globe.
