The Exclusive Launch Event Attracts an Unprecedented Number of Enthusiasts to Jessops’ Flagship Store
Friday 26th June 2009 – The hotly-anticipated Olympus Pen EP-1 was launched to the UK market last night at Jessops’ flagship store in London. The launch event, attended by acclaimed photographer David Bailey, attracted a crowd of hundreds of consumers all hoping to catch a glimpse of the reinvented cult classic.
Jessops, the nationwide supplier of the Olympus Pen EP-1, hosted the launch event at their recently refitted flagship store on London’s Oxford Street. With the promise of the a free Cross fountain pen for the first 50 pre-orders on the night, a 200-strong crowd formed at the store and Jessops were overwhelmed with the volume of pre-orders requested on the night.
David Bailey, was the first in the UK to receive the revolutionary Olympus Pen EP-1 camera on the evening. The original retro favourite first hit the market in 1959 and was the first compact camera of its kind. Fifty years on, Olympus have released a similarly revolutionary camera, combining digital SLR technology and the flexibility of interchangeable lenses with the Olympus Pen’s signature retro style and compact size.
