Kingston Technology, the world's leading independent memory manufacturer, today announced the release of its DDR2 800-MHz (PC2-6400) ValueRAM memory modules. The modules have been specially designed to support the AMD Athlon™ 64 product family for select socket AM2 desktop processors. Available in capacities of up to 2GB, the new DDR2 800-MHz modules offer the next generation in DDR memory technology - featuring faster speeds, higher data bandwidths, lower power consumption, and enhanced thermal performance over standard DDR memory.

Kingston Technology worked closely with AMD and partners during the development of DDR2 based platforms that will support DDR2 memory. While the socket AM2 platforms support standard DDR2 533-MHz and 667-MHz, they also have the capability to support the latest DDR2 800-MHz modules. “Kingston Technology’s longstanding relationship with AMD allows us to combine forces to introduce the latest, high performance memory technology to the market,” said Ann Keefe, Sales Director UK and Ireland, Kingston Technology. “Combining the new DDR2 800-MHz ValueRAM with the AMD Athlon™ 64 will create the ideal high performance PC for any PC enthusiast’s desktop and workstation applications,” added Keefe.

David Schwarzbach, Division Marketing Manager, Desktop Division, AMD remarks, “We are very pleased Kingston Technology have introduced their DDR2 800 MHz ValueRAM that supports socket AM2 platforms. The transition between DDR memory and DDR2 memory modules is coming at the right time for customers. As a customer focused company, we determined that now was the best time to move to DDR2 due to a greater offering in price, availability and performance.”

DDR2 800-MHz ValueRAM Features / Specifications:
  • Tested at 800 MHz
  • 1.8 Volts operation, delivering 50% less power usage.
  • Memory signal termination inside the memory chip to prevent reflected signal transmission errors.
  • CAS Latency: 5
