Kobalt announces new gaming notebooks powered by NVIDIA GeForce 9 series & Intel Centrino 2

July 15th 2008 – Coulsdon, England: Kobalt Computers Ltd – a specialist in building high performance custom gaming systems announces two new gaming notebooks based on the new Intel® Centrino® 2 platform.

Kobalt Computers is pleased to announce the launch of the Nexus 15.4” and Mojave 17” notebooks. Featuring new 1066MHz FSB processors, DDR3 RAM and NVIDIA® GeForce® 9 series graphics cards the Nexus and Mojave represent the next generation of mobile gaming.

Intel® Centrino® 2 Mobile technology brings massive benefits over previous mobile platforms including increased performance, decreased power consumption for longer battery life and lower heat levels meaning quieter operation.

Nexus Features

The Nexus is a true feature packed notebook boasting HDMI, eSATA, HSDPA 3G and future WIMAX support. The whole Kobalt notebook range uses OCZ RAM and OCZ Solid State Drives, continuing the integration of performance components. The new OCZ SSD II drives bring Solid State technology to the masses with extremely attractive pricing, low power consumption, shock resistant storage and giving over two and a half times the performance of a standard 2.5” spindle drive.

Mojave Features

Though similar to the Santa Rosa based Mojave XI externally, the revised Mojave has stepped up to the new Centrino® 2 platform and bring all the benefits seen in the Nexus. HDMI, eSATA, DDR3 RAM are all standard but the Mojave also boasts an additional Graphics cards – the NVIDIA® GeForce® 9800M GTX as well as future support for the world’s first mobile Quad Core CPU, the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300 expected for release in Q3. The NVIDIA 9800M GTX takes mobile GPU performance to a new level, offering a 25% performance increase over the 8800M GTX.

As with all Kobalt notebooks the Nexus and Mojave will be available with full laser etching and paint options.

The Mojave is shipping now and the Nexus will ship during the first week of August.
