MSI Eclipse is designed with in mind to overshadow all other mainboards. The MSI Eclipse mainboard is based on the upcoming new Intel chipset and supports the new Intel Nehalem architecture CPU. The new colour scheme of the MSI Eclipse is similar to the colours visible during an eclipse. This mainboard is equipped with True 6-Phase DrMOS PWM for the CPU, 2-Phase DrMOS for QPI, 2-Phase DrMOS for chipset, D-LED 2, Creative X-Fi hardware audio, APS, Drive Booster, a Split Thermal System and MSI GreenPower Genie.
MSI 2nd Generation DrMOS
MSI Eclipse series is equipped with True 6-Phase DrMOS and in addition it is equipped with also a 2-Phase chipset DrMOS and a 2-Phase QPI DrMOS to create a more power efficient and cooler platform, which delivers superior performances, maximum stability and more overclocking headroom.
Optimized Split Thermal System
The 2nd generation MSI DrMOS operates under low-temperature. Since MSI wants to make best use of the advantages of MSI DrMOS it has equipped MSI Eclipse mainboard with a copper Split Thermal System. This unique Split Thermal System will prevent that heat will be transferred from the chipset to the True 6-Phase DrMOS PWM. Therefore MSI Eclipse series can pass the most extreme performance tests.
MSI Active Phase Switching (APS)
APS switches the number of power phases corresponding to the needs of the CPU load. With fewer phases the system works more efficient at lower CPU loads. APS is not only manageable in the GreenPower Center but also in the BIOS. Therefore it is OS independent unlike other comparable solutions that are currently available in the market. Unique is that APS does not only control CPU power supply, but also 2-Phase QPI DrMOS, 2-Phase chipset DrMOS and 2-Phase memory.
MSI D-LED 2
MSI introduces MSI D-LED 2 display which displays debug messages during booting and system status messages during operation. It comes with a flexible temperature sensor to measure heat anywhere in the system.
MSI GreenPower Genie
MSI GreenPower Genie can be placed between the power supply and MSI Eclipse mainboard. It is connected via the SM Bus (System Management Bus) and can detect real-time 12V, 5V and 3.3V. The results are displayed in the BIOS, MSI GreenPower Center software and D-LED 2. This is the only system that really shows truly the power values and system efficiency.
Creative X-Fi Audio Hardware
MSI is the only one who bundles Creative X-FI audio hardware with their high-end mainboards. The Creative X-Fi audio hardware decoder chip enables real quality multi-channel surround sound speakers. The PCI Express interface, accurate signal transmission, full 24-bit crystallizer audio decoding technology support and CMSS-3D surround sound field technology together provide the best audio performance.
