BECOME A LUNCHTIME TENNIS ACE WITH MARTINEAU PLACE

Whether you're the next Roger Federer or have never picked up a racket in your life head down to Martineau Place, Birmingham city centre, every lunchtime from Monday 23 June to Friday 27 to test your tennis prowess in a Wii-mbledon tennis extravaganza.

From 12pm -3pm each day shoppers will have the opportunity to play Top Spin 3, a virtual tennis game featuring tennis superstars such as Andy Murray and Mark Philippoussis using a Nintendo Wii game pod. Gaming experts from Birmingham gaming venue Omega Sektor will be on hand to provide hints and tips and help Wii-mbledon -wannabes serve like Federer, hit a forehand like Nadal and volley like Sharapova.

Those feeling brave enough can pit their might against Omega Sektor's team of professional gamers. The first five people to beat the experts each day will win a copy of the Sega Superstars Tennis for the Xbox 360.

Alternatively if you're more tennis faux than tennis pro you can still enter a prize draw to win your own Wii console complete with Wii sports package, thanks to Nintendo.

Richard Paxton, Martineau Place Centre Director, said: "With the city playing host to the DFS Championships earlier this month and now the start of Wimbledon, tennis fever has truly hit Birmingham. But as not everyone can get tickets to centre court we thought we'd create our very own version of Wii-mbledon right here at Martineau Place.

"Tennis is a great way to keep fit, improve your muscular strength and develop balance. And you can lose up to a whopping 500 calories an hour, so you don't have to feel guilty about indulging in the odd bowl of strawberries and cream!"
