Following two years of significant growth, Yorkshire-based distie Target Components is holding its first Recruitment Day on Friday 4 Feb in the conference suite at the Whitwood Inn, Castleford, West Yorkshire.
Target currently has at least nine new vacancies in various roles within the company but is keen to take on more staff subject to finding “the right people”.
The recruitment follows a period of unprecedented growth, with turnover growing from £12m in calendar year 2008 to £20m in 2010, and staff numbers increasing by 40% over the same period.
The distributor is also enjoying its fifth consecutive year of profit growth. Target trebled profits last year and is currently on course to double them again this year (ending March 2011), all of which is good news for their staff who share ten percent of profit.
The vacancies cover a number of roles within the company, including sales, business development, product management, purchasing, and technical, with the creation of new positions to facilitate increased levels of business and future expansion.
This will be the trade-only distributor’s first Recruitment Day, with the decision to hold the event taken due to the unprecedented number of current vacancies.
Managing Director Paul Cubbage explains the importance of finding the right people to maintain Target’s impressive growth: “Over the last two years, as most distributors have seen turnover decline or stagnate, we have grown sales by over 60% because we have expanded our customer base by the same ratio.
Over the same period, our five closest competitors have seen their sales slide by an average of 16%. We believe we’ve achieved this because we look after our customers far better than our competitors, and we are able to do so because we have quality staff throughout the business that take a pride in the level of service they provide.”
Cubbage also believes that businesses have an added responsibility in difficult times to create jobs wherever possible. “As the VAT increase and government cuts start to bite, it’s important that we all do as much as we can to create wealth and jobs in the economy. We’re in a fortunate position that we can do this whilst helping to fuel our future growth”
The Recruitment Day offers visitors a chance to find out more about careers within Target and to meet members of the team. Representatives will be present from a number of departments to give details of current vacancies and future developments and there will be presentations and Q&A sessions throughout the day.
The event is open to everyone, with doors opening at 10am and running until 2.30pm. Anyone interested in finding out more about opportunities within Target can find details on their website,
www.targetcomponents.co.uk or simply attend on the day.
