Who wants to waste precious minutes every day hooking and unhooking their notebook from desktop kit such as printers, drives and mouse? And repeat the task with every move between home and office, desk and meeting room? With the release of the 231P4UPES 23-inch (58.4 cm) USB docking display, MMD, the leading technology company and brand license partner for Philips Monitors, is pleased to announce an end to desktop clutter and the hassle of getting things set up. Users plug their notebook into the display with one single USB cable, and instantly expand their workplace with access to all the devices connected to the display. What is more, these instant productivity gains are teamed with an excellent viewing experience.

Plug & work – convenience just a USB socket away
Today’s mobile workers need adaptable workplaces. From travelling executives to flexible teamworkers, the 231P4UPES docking display is designed for professionals on the move. With three ports (two USB 3.0 to ramp up data transfer speed, and one USB 2.0), the display provides immediate access to all the connected peripherals – printers, external drives, camera or mouse. Besides hooking up hardware devices, the USB 3.0 cable also transmits video and network signals, and connects directly to the Internet or intranet via the integrated Ethernet port. The benefits are even more striking for users of ultra-portable laptops, which may have only limited connectors, and therefore fewer options for connecting to external devices. “We’re excited about the new notebook docking display,” says Thomas Schade, MMD Vice President Europe. “Today’s professionals are people who can be productive anywhere. Wherever they go, their notebook goes too! And the prospect of dealing with a mess of cabling every time they plug in at the office is less than appealing. The new display enables users to hook up right away – with one-step access to an entire landscape of IT peripherals – and be instantly more productive.”

Once in the office, people rarely stay deskbound. There are team meetings to attend. Workgroups to brainstorm in. Clients to present to. The 231P4UPES display is ideal for desk sharing, and for collaborating in team meetings. Users simply hook up their notebook to access desktop or teamroom resources right away. And for collaborating with colleagues off-site, the display’s built-in speakers and audio connectors make videoconferencing a true-to-life experience.

Up-sizing the viewing experience – with brilliant quality
With this display waiting on their desks, users gain brilliant, sharp images and 23 inches (58.4 cm) of screen real estate – enabling them to upsize the content of sometimes diminutive notebook screens and enjoy the enhanced productivity of a more spacious display. The display quality is certainly compelling, with high contrast image reproduction and wide-angle viewing (great for collaborating in groups), complemented by a 13-cm height-adjustable stand and AutoPivot function to provide optimal viewing in any situation.

Effortless energy savings
The new display is designed with an array of smart features to effortlessly reduce power consumption. It fulfills the EPEAT Gold and TCO 6.0 standards, both formidable eco-benchmarks to measure up to. It’s also equipped with PowerSensor technology, which automatically dims the display the moment the user moves away – ensuring the display takes a break when the user does. This feature alone can deliver energy savings of up to 80 %, while the 0W power switch ensures zero energy is used when the display is off.
