Medford, Oregon —September 25, 2009, — SmoothCreations a nationally known system builder that builds custom painted high performance gaming computers; are proud to announce the Radeon HD 5870 1GB XOC Havoc.
These GPUs feature a PCIE 2.0 x16 interface, 1024MB of DDR5 memory and are designed with 1600 stream processors. The HD 5800 Series supports ATI CrossFireX(TM) allowing upgradeability to four boards. The HD 5870 models boast a memory speed of 1.4 GHz and a core clock speed of 950 MHz while the HD 5850 GPUs have a memory speed of 1100 MHz and a core clock speed of 825 MHz.
Uncompromising HD video is delivered via ATI Avivo(TM) display technology. The latest Blu-ray(TM) movies play smoothly beyond 1080p with a dedicated hardware video decoder that leaves the CPU unbound to do other tasks. Enjoy digital content with HDMI 1.3 and built in 7.1 surround sound supporting AC-3, ACC, Dolby True HD and DTS Master audio formats.
“The Smoothcreations Radeon HD 5870 1GB XOC Havoc was clocked to kick some ass. We didn’t just want a fast card out in the market, we wanted the fastest card that could kick the living daylights and bust some performance records. And that’s exactly what our engineers accomplished,” said Mario Gastelum, director of product development and engineering at Smoothcreations.
Smoothcreations “Unlocked” Radeon HD 5870 1GB XOC Havoc graphics card comes with graphics processing unit clocked at 950MHz and 1024MB of GDDR5 memory operating at 5200MHz, up from on reference design ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics adapter. The firmware of the board was modified and the board can be overclocked even further. We also recalibrated settings in the bios that will allow the HD 5870 1GB XOC Havoc to adjust GPU and memory speeds to 3D operations or 2D mundane tasks like using Microsoft word or excel whereas over clocking isn’t needed.
“Typically the catalyst control center controls over clocking capabilities, but those capabilities and thresholds are limited by fixed and conservative clock speeds on the bios”. We unlocked that bios and released it’s true potential”, Mario Gastelum.
“The firmware was custom designed to enable end users to go beyond the normal over clocked speeds and allow them to push their cards for higher performance via the Catalyst Control Center. The GPU’s custom firmware has been unlocked to push cards to GPU settings of up to 950MHz and Memory of up 1400MHz,” said Mr. Gastelum.
The Smoothcreations Radeon HD 5870 XOC Havoc comes with a custom liquid-based cooling system options from Danger Den, which ensures that extreme overclocking of the product does not affect its lifespan and stability of work.
The Smoothcreations Radeon HD 5870 1GB XOC Havoc will powered by no less than Intel’s family of Core i7’s. As the CEO of SmoothCreations, Jim Saling, put’s it, “the Smoothcreations card was designed to be a powerful multimedia & gaming system that has a robust and offers scalable upgrade features”.

"We're proud to feature the AMD ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics processor in our award-winning custom PCs," says Jim Saling, CEO and founder of Smoothcreations.
