Since the exciting launch of the brand’s makeover in April 2009, Packard Bell has continued its significant innovation in new products, and now announces the superb dot m/u, the first netbook with the performance of a notebook.

Netbooks are becoming ever more popular, and their segment is experiencing the fastest growth rate in the notebook market: 1 out of every 4 notebooks sold is a netbook[1].

With mobile users in mind, the mini-sized dot m/u series has the same ultra-small, stylish design chassis of the well-known dot series (with 11.6 inch screen), but offers the same performance of a regular-sized notebook and high-def entertainment experience. On-the-go life style is made possible thanks to the 8-hour battery-life for a full day of work or play, with advanced processing, graphics, a large HDD and much more.

Fashionable style

Extremely chic and fashionable, the dot m/u series is available in two colors (NightSky Black and Cherry Red) and confirms Packard Bell’s vocation towards high-end and trend design: attractive detailing are combined in a stylish look and feel, with a flashy, glossy cover and matt interior.

With attractively designed curves and details, like the silver plated engraved Packard Bell logo on the cover and touchpad, smooth silver hinges and the textured palm rest, give the product a special elegance.

Thin, light and easy to use

Its 11.6-inch screen, 16:9 ratio and its small size, less than one inch thin, and 1.40 kilo, give it great portability without compromising on its viewing quality. Easy to grip and to carry, with its 6-cell battery integrated into the chassis, the dot m/u is convenient for carrying in your bag or hand luggage!

For ease of use the embedded numeric keypad enables efficient one-hand data input, while the renowned Packard Bell multi-gesture touchpad allows you to easily navigate, scroll and zoom by simply using 2 fingers.

8-hour power

dot m/u series is equipped with Intel® ultra-low voltage (ULV) processor and 6-cell Li-ion battery pack to consume less power, giving a much longer battery life. It offers up to 8-hour power that keeps users mobile for a full day of usage without having to recharge[2].

High-def entertainment

Packard Bell’s dot m/u is the perfect high-def entertainer. Ideal for viewing high-def pictures, movies, Internet clips and much more, thanks to the high-brightness of the Packard Bell Diamond View TFT LCD, it can be connected to your favorite high-def peripheral via its HDMI port. The optimized Dolby® Headphone technology offers multi-channel sound, just with an ordinary pair of stereo headphones: enjoy a full entertainment experience!

Storage of any kind of document or file has never been so easy, with a hard drive up to 500GB; up to 4GB RAM gives great performance, plus the 5-in-1 card reader and standard Adobe® Photoshop® and Element 6 (full version) make storing and editing photo’s easy.

Stay connected

dot m/u is the perfect on-the-go companion. All you need for mobile video chatting and social networking is built in: Wi-Fi capabilities, the microphone, the webcam and Windows Live™ Messenger. Optional Bluetooth and 3G module give you a wider range of wireless connectivity.

dot m/u will be available on shelves with Microsoft Windows® 7 Home Premium starting October 22nd at an estimated street price starting £399.

Availability and technical features will vary according to countries.
