Fujitsu Technology Solutions presents Mainboard for
Extended-Lifetime-Series:
ATX Mainboard for new Intel Core Microarchitecture Processors (Nehalem)

Augsburg, July 30th, 2009. Fujitsu Technology Solutions has started the
production of yet another industrial mainboard with extended lifetime at its
production facilities in Augsburg / Bavaria. The ATX board D2778-A is based
on Intel’s latest X58-/ ICH10R-chipset. Thanks to its support of the current
Intel Core Microarchitecture processors with LGA1366 socket, integrated
storage controller and Intel QuickPath Interconnect Technology (QPI), the
board achieves a performance hitherto unreached among single CPU solutions.

Designed for continuous operation (24/7), the mainboard is especially
suitable for applications demanding the highest calculation performance such
as high performance computing (HPC), CAD applications, video processing,
simulation programmes and realtime industrial control systems.

The cooler controlling is monitored by an upgradable stand-alone
microprocessor which works independently from the operating system (Onboard
Management Controller). The processor enables various monitoring modes
whilst working almost silently, which is unheard of for a product within
this performance class. Also, thanks to a high-efficiency processor voltage
controller, the boards fulfil the industry’s growing demand for Green IT
solutions.

The board is equipped with a number of expansion and connectivity components
such as six DIMM sockets that can be assembled with up to 24 GB DDR3
800/1066/1333 ECC SDRAM (depending on the OS), two PCI Express x16 slots
(Gen2 increased data rate), FireWire, Gigabit Ethernet, two serial ports,
two PCI and two PCIe x8 slots respectively (Gen2).

Infineon’s Trusted Platform Module (TPM1.2) additionally ensures
professional data security and encryption functionality. Beside its six
external USB connections and two internal Dual USB pin headers, the
mainboard also offers an onboard USB connection, protecting licensed dongles
or other data storage media carrying sensitive information from theft, loss
or mechanical damage.

The mainboards’ high reliability is guaranteed due to the high automation
levels of the production lines in Germany. The logistics and testing
technology of the production and the use of high-quality components like
long life polymer condensers increase overall product reliability.
