D-LINK NOW SHIPPING 200 MBPS POWERLINE™ KIT TO EXTEND A HOME NETWORK USING EXISTING ELECTRICAL WIRING

Complete PowerLine solution enables fast transfer of HD video, music, gaming and more through conventional home power sockets

LONDON, UK – 7th September, 2009 – D-Link, the end-to-end networking solutions provider for consumer and business, today introduces its new PowerLine™ kit that enables users to extend their home network and plug in up to four devices via their existing electrical wiring.

D-Link’s PowerLine HD 4-Port Starter Kit (DHP-343) consists of one PowerLine HD 4-Port Switch (DHP-342) and one PowerLine HD Ethernet Adapter (DHP-302)*. The comprehensive offering now provides the user with everything they need to easily connect up to four digital media devices, game consoles, print servers, computers or network storage devices to their home network. Extra cabling or wiring is not needed as PowerLine technology takes advantage of ordinary AC power and existing wall sockets to transfer data.

“Our PowerLine networking solution makes it even easier for consumers to enjoy the benefits of a digital home truly designed for high-definition media streaming, online gaming and other next-generation applications,” explains Andrew Mulholland, Marketing Manager D-Link UK. “The technology is fast, extremely easy-to-use, and is a natural complement to our popular wired and wireless home networking, moving data into areas of a home where it may be difficult to run a cable or achieve a strong wireless signal.”

D-Link’s PowerLine devices plug directly into a wall outlet with either one, or four LAN ports to connect multiple products throughout the home. The network ID on the devices can be quickly and conveniently configured at the push of a button, enabling secure encryption which helps protect the PowerLine network from intruder wire-tapping.

D-Link’s PowerLine switches and adapters are capable of delivering up to 200 Mbps, a rapid transmission speed suitable for bandwidth-intensive applications such as HD video streaming, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls, and lag-free online gaming experiences. In addition, the switches’ embedded Quality of Service (QoS) technology prioritises traffic, ensuring that multimedia applications will not experience performance degradation while web surfing and file downloads are in progress.

The PowerLine range also features D-Link Green™ technology with a power saving mode to help conserve energy. If data transmission does not occur during a specified time period, the adapter will automatically go into sleep mode to save power.

The D-Link DHP-343 is available from mid-September for a recommended retail price (RRP) of £109.99 inc. VAT. For more information, visit www.dlink.co.uk.
