Windows 7 testing ensures compatibility and a quality user experience

LONDON, UK – 5th August, 2009 – D-Link announced today that its 802.11n routers have passed Windows 7 Logo testing thereby qualifying them for the “Compatible with Windows 7” Logo Program.

Scheduled for release in October 2009, Windows 7 is the upcoming version of the Microsoft Windows operating system for use on personal computers. Windows 7 is intended to be a more focused, incremental upgrade to the Windows line, with the goal of being fully compatible with applications and hardware that are already compatible with its predecessor Windows Vista.

The Windows 7 Logo Program is not only designed to help companies develop systems and devices that have been tested to ensure that they meet Microsoft standards for Windows 7, but furthermore to guarantee a quality user experience.

D-Link’s DIR-655, Wireless N Gigabit Router, was the first router on the market to receive the Windows 7 certification. The following routers available in the UK have now been tested for compatibility and will be qualified to display the Windows 7 logo:

“Due to the automatic setup and connectivity capabilities built into Windows 7, it’s now even easier for users to get the most out of their D-Link network. Microsoft, with Windows 7, is looking at the bigger picture; the entire network and not just individual products” said Andrew Mulholland, Marketing Manager, D-Link UK. “Now, when a user plugs in all their devices, they will be auto-discovered and auto-configured. This will help them benefit from additional network and device functionality and in the long run will help reduce support calls.”
