Lenovo and VMware Expand ThinkServer Virtualisation Capabilities

Hook, UK – September 11, 2009: At VMworld 2009, Lenovo and VMware announced an agreement to provide VMware vSphere™ 4 on Lenovo ThinkServer offerings around the world. Starting in the fourth quarter of 2009, Lenovo will distribute and market VMware vSphere 4 through Lenovo’s sales channels. This enhanced relationship builds on a previous agreement to provide VMware virtualisation on Lenovo servers sold in China.
Many businesses are interested in the benefits of virtualisation technology. “IDC believes virtualisation has moved to a technology embraced by most enterprises due to the potential cost savings and increased IT flexibility that server virtualisation can provide. From a cost savings perspective, virtualisation has the potential to reduce capex spending and improve server utilisation. From an increased IT flexibility, virtualisation can enable the enterprise to deploy virtualised servers more rapidly than physical servers and thus react to changing business needs faster[i].”

The ThinkServer TD200 and TD200x towers and RD210 and RD220 racks also come with Lenovo’s integrated management module that allows administrators to easily manage their servers with options for remote management. To get them up and running, customers receive a 90-day trial of ThinkPlus Priority Support providing next business day repair, 24x7 hardware and software phone support and priority call routing to advanced technicians.
