At IBC 2009, NXP Semiconductors will be demonstrating some of the most ground-breaking new set-top box and digital video recorder (DVR) technology innovations, designed to improve system performance while reducing cost, power and complexity for system manufacturers. New technology innovations will include:
· The first fully-integrated 45nm platform for mainstream set-top box and HD DVR services. NXP will showcase the world’s first fully integrated 45nm set-top box platform featuring 3D core from Imagination Technologies, industry-leading power consumption while supporting various Internet codecs, OTT video-service formats, and Blu-ray video quality. It enables 3D EPG and gaming, too.
· HD DVR solution with NDS Evolution middleware for pay-TV markets. NXP has integrated NDS Evolution middleware onto CX2450x, a highly integrated SoC solution for HD set top box, enabling operators and OEMs bring new digital pay-TV service and interactive TV applications with reduce time to market and design cost.
· MoCA-enabled multi-room DVR reference design: Based on NXP’s STB SoC and Entropic’s MoCA 1.1 compliant single chip, the reference design will largely reduce the cost of multi-room DVR.
· A new IPTV reference design that combines NXP’s CX2540x single-chip set-top box SoC with an interactive content platform from Active Video Networks
· Multi-room viewing with Wi-Fi, using NXP’s STB225 platform to provide web-based content via a cloud server.
· Highly integrated DVB-C and IP set-top box platform that combines standard definition cable programming with IP connectivity for enhanced services such as video-on-demand, interactive EPG and games.
· A full working demo of the high-end LCD TV550 system. NXP will present a full working demonstration of its TV550 system, the first digital TV SoC created on an advanced 45nm process, integrating class-leading levels of functionality, including NXP’s best-in-class MAPP ME/MC frame rate conversion technology.
