XWave Powered by NeuroSky

San Jose, CA, November 22, 2010 - The new XWave™ headset designed by PLX Devices and powered by Neurosky Inc. technologies brings "mind control" to mobile devices for the first time and is just the gift this holiday season for consumers who want something truly unique. The headset allows the wearer to harness the power of their brainwaves. Game players can move objects with their minds, monitor attention levels, measure their degree of relaxation state and "work out" their brain! For any stressed out mom and business executive that swears they are a bit "ADHD," XWave helps to calm thoughts, improve attention and take back control of the mind.

NeuroSky, the world's leading designer of consumer Brain Computer Interface technologies (BCI), has just launched a new headset called the XWave in partnership with PLX Devices that will allow buyers to control game-play with their minds. So far, NeuroSky is best known for their technology in Mattel's MindFlex and Uncle Milton's Star Wars Force Trainer, two of the most popular Christmas toys last year. The Mindflex received a number of awards, succeeded in selling out within 5 weeks and by Christmas was posting for up to $400 on amazon.com. The new brainwave headset is NeuroSky's first offering for consumers.

The XWave includes the patented ThinkGear™ chip used in NeuroSky's earlier research-grade headset called the MindSet, but is lighter in weight and reaches the $99 price point customers have been asking for to truly take the technology mainstream.

The new headset uses NeuroSky's ThinkGear technology to read the intensity of the wearer's brainwaves via one sensor on the forehead and a ground and reference contact point positioned on the ear. By detecting mental states (such as concentration and relaxation) they allow the wearer to interact with technology in ways that were once thought to be improbable outside of a research environment. This makes it possible to send commands to a computer simply by 'thinking' about them, and provides people with a new level of deep insight into themselves.

The XWave is available for iPhone, iPad and other mobile platforms at a retail price of $99 at www.PLXdevices.com. All applications will be available for download on iTunes.

An example of one of the applications available with the XWave is "Tug of Mind," designed by MindGames www.mindgames.is/games/ and recently featured in the LA Times. "Tug of Mind" pits a player against any opponent he or she chooses from real life. Choose a photograph, and turn it into an angry, lifelike 3D head, courtesy of Digimi. Put words in its mouth by recording a phrase. Then turn that frown upside down using the power of the mind!

In addition, the Xwave Visualizer app by PLX Devices will be free from iTunes and the Apple App Store and can be directly downloaded from an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad device.

Another headset by NeuroSky called the MindWave, which will be available for PC and MAC only, is in the works and expected to launch in January 2011 This lightweight headset with research-grade accuracy will come in a bundle that includes six custom games at a retail price of $99 at NeuroSky.com. Additional games will be available at NeuroSky.com.
