Sunbury-on Thames – 14 December 2010 – Kingston Digital Europe Ltd, an affiliate of Kingston Technology Company Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today launched a competition to find out how solid state drives (SSDs) are improving the work lives of users. People responding to videos on a special Kingston.com competition page have the chance to win an SSDNow V+100 128GB drive, one of the latest products available in Kingston’s next generation SSDNow range.
Kingston ‘Tell Us’ is a YouTube-based competition, where entrants are challenged to upload a short video detailing how an SSD would benefit their business lives. Those wanting to take part in the competition are asked to respond to videos on the Kingston site by posting a video on YouTube with the phrase: ‘How a Kingston SSDNow would improve my work life’ in the title. The final date for entrants to post videos is 7th January, 2011.
The videos for people to respond to can be found on the Kingston competition page at:

For example, an SSD might extend the life of an old computer meaning they don’t need to buy a new machine; it could improve performance by booting quicker or loading applications faster; or it may increase productivity through greater reliability compared with HDDs. Whatever the benefit is, just ‘Tell Us’, says Kingston. The videos judged to be the most creative or to demonstrate a real impact on a business users’ work life will receive a Kingston SSDNow V+100 128GB drive as a prize.
Faster and more reliable than a standard hard disk drive, the Kingston SSDNow V+100 drives are rugged and built with no moving parts, making them ideal for business users who push the limits of their computers. SSDs also use less power, making them greener, and they emit less noise and heat. The new Kingston SSDNow V+100 also has an enhanced ‘always-on’ garbage collection feature, which cleanses redundant data from the drive to prevent performance degradation and maintains the drive over its life cycle.
“There are so many stories of how SSDs can positively impact businesses, from extending the life of computers, to speeding up work rate, to minimizing downtime and IT problems,” said Jim Selby, Manager – European Product Marketing, Kingston Digital Europe®. “We wanted to give people the opportunity to tell us why they would want an SSD in their work computer by responding to our user videos, and share their thoughts with the world. And, of course, they might just get their wish.”
