Lite-On eHBU212 offers super-fast 12x writing with USB 3.0

Lite-On have today announced the launch of their first external Blu-ray Writer, the 12x eHBU212.

With USB 3.0 and a generous buffer, the eHBU212 offers high-speed writing alongside rich high definition playback.

“With the eHBU212, Lite-On is launching its first external Blu-ray writer to the market and with that is further extending its Blu-ray portfolio”, says Maarten Souren, Marketing Manager at Lite-On. “The convenient external design enables end users to easily upgrade their laptops, desktops, or home theatre PCs to Blu-ray without buying a new computer”, adds Souren.

With the ability to store up to 10,000 photos or 625 hours of music on a single disc (and label it with LightScribe for a colourful finish) the eHBU212 is a must-have for any media-enthusiast from movie fans to photographers and students to professionals.
Key Features:

* Up to 12x writing speeds
* USB 3.0 technology
* Cyberlink Blu-Ray Suite software
* LightScribe Technology
* SMART Burn

Ultra-fast 12x speed with USB 3.0 technology:
With a modern USB 3.0 connection, the eHBU212 offers lightening fast writing speeds of 12x and smooth, uninterrupted Blu-ray movie playback. What’s more, the drive is compatible with previous USB 2.0 systems to deliver versatility across the home and office.

Enjoy high definition movies without costly upgrades:
Movie fans don’t need to upgrade their entire home cinema system to enjoy their favourite flicks in high definition. The eHBU212 provides a simple, plug-and-play way to turn your desktop or laptop into a Blu-ray player, capable of delivering graphics in stunning 1920x1080p high definition with superior audio.

Back-up vast quantities of data onto a single disc:
With a whopping 50GB storage space available on just one Blu-ray disc (Double Layer), the days of needing countless disc to back-up and share large media collections are gone. Just one disc offers space for up to 10,000 12 megapixel photos or 625 hours of continuous music – more than enough to share precious memories or keep the kids quiet on long journeys.

Get the most out of Blu-ray with Cyberlink software:
The eHBU212 is bundled with the Cyberlink Blu-Ray Suite which offers an array of tools and software to make the most of Blu-ray for both writing data or playing movies, including advanced burning tools and DVD video editing.

Fun and easy disc labelling with LightScribe:
With Lightscribe functionality, the eHBU212 drive offers a creative touch to discs, without extra hardware or fussy marker pens. The easy-to-use and smudge-free disc-labelling system uses the Blu-ray laser and bundled software to ‘etch’ the desired design onto Lightscribe media – simply write the data, flip the disc then burn the label for a colourful and consistent finish.

Reduce wasted discs with SMART Burn technology:
SMART Burn technology compares the disc to be burned with an updated list from Lite-On and automatically adjusts the writing strategy to provide the best burn quality. This intelligent system reduces disc errors and wasted discs to save both time and money.

Pricing & Availability:
The eHBU212 will be approximately £148 SRP and is available this month from a selection of retailers.
