OCZ is continuously working on improving and innovating the SSD Technology. With the feedback from our community and our R&D departments drive we are always looking at increased performance, stability and developing exclusive tools and functions for our demanding customers.

This Thursday OCZ will release a new exclusive firmware for the Agility and Vertex series which features “background / automatic garbage collection”.

It is well known that overtime the NAND flash memory in traditional solid state drives is effected by data fragmentation which causes the drives to slow down noticeably. While competing drives still suffer from performance degradation, OCZ’s exclusive SSD firmware helps keep performance at peak levels without any further maintenance from consumers.

The background optimizer runs during idle-time to restore the SSD to its original performance, providing peace of mind for the entire life of the drive. In addition, these drives will fully support TRIM with the impending Microsoft Windows 7 release, making OCZ SSDs a future-proof investment.

The new firmware is available on the OCZ Forum!

If you are currently writing a review of either the Agility or Vertex (please note this new firmware is not for the Vertex Turbo!), please wait until Thursday so you can get the latest firmware and show your readers the performance increase and advantages of OCZs exclusive new firmware.

In case a review has already been published we would appreciate an update in the article or make a news piece on this exciting development. If you would like to receive a new drive with the latest firmware in order to publish another review please let me know and I will arrange it for you.
