Campus Party Europe Modding Coverage
Some of Europe’s best modders decended on Madrid in Spain from the 14th to the 18th of April to take part in the large annual
Campus Party Europe science and technology-based LAN party. As well as modding, the event also featured extreme overclocking, robotics and talks from various tech-related companies and organisations such as the European Space Agency.
As the home of modding on the internet
bit-tech was of course invited along to meet some of our most prolific modders and to see their past and present projects. We can only apologise for the fact this report took so long to get here - unfortunately an
Icelandic volcano made getting back to the UK a little tricky!
Plenty of other modders were there too though showing off some fantastic projects and thankfully most of these had survived trips of several thousand miles. The audience included thousands of members of the public and a few dignitaries too, including Cristina Garmendia, the Spanish Minister of Science who opened the event on Thursday morning. Also at the exhibition were forum members Taro28, MIGUI, riekmaharg2, Phinix and p0Pe with mrdbristol appearing later too.
The gorgeous
Mod the Year nominee
Cosmos Dragon by the Blass brothers (thechoozen) was there in all its glowing glory and above is the tent hall for the participants. Parts of their new project, Fast Forward, were on show too including Module One which was in Mod of the Month in
January
Above is forum user vils showing a Spanish minister his
Facit typewriter scratch build. It proved very popular at the show as did the Wall-E project.
