Introduction

We all love to game, don't we? At least, I'd assume so since you're reading this article about gaming. If not, you may just be in the wrong place. But barring that...

Has anyone actually paid attention to how much absolute drivel has been released upon us lately? It seems like tired cliche after tired cliche, often strung together with the most painfully thin plot. Yeah, there have been some greats recently like Supreme Commander and S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but not a whole lot.

A while back, we revisited some of the great games of old that could really use a spit-shine and a re-release. Of course, despite all of our wishes, hopes and dreams, the past is the past. Those games (and others so wonderfully pointed out) will always remain in our memories for what they are, but that got me thinking...what about the games that we love because of what we're able to make them?

You know what I'm talking about - the games that have such a thriving community that it seems they will never die. Games whose developers provided us with the tools (or we made them ourselves) to upgrade, create and change the very premise. Games that evolve.

It's time for a list of the five most moddable games. But, one word of caution: This list is not going to give you the best mods for those games - that's what the forums are for. Everyone has his or her favourite, so go provide a few links for some of yours when you're done reading.

So, without further ado...
