The great side panel massacre
Ah, the side panel to the 201b. It's so simple, elegant...bland. You know what would make it better? A hole or two. Let's get on that, shall we?
Ediejo started out by measuring the height of his internal components against the side panel. If all went well, he'd have a panel that had two distinct windows, showing off all of the intended features in both the upper and lower chambers.
Top window planned, top window cut. Some steady jigsaw handling made short work of the aluminium side panel, leaving a window that was perfectly measured to expose every possible inch of the upper chamber.
Lower window planned, lower window cut. It was just as easy as the upper one. For those wondering about structural integrity once you've removed more than 90 percent of the metal, well...we said window, not hole! It'll get filled in later.
To clean up any jagged edges, Ediejo took to some pretty hefty filing. However, he wasn't totally happy with that result - so a palm sander helped to clean it up further.
