Case, Panels and Painting Part 2

Unable to find actual Naugehide, I ended up using black synthetic leather and foam padding for the seats and front covers. Each cover was comprised of a Masonite core, foam padding and wrapped in synthetic leather. I estimate it took over 4,000 staples to secure everything together.

Velcro strips were added to the underside and also attached with staples. The front panels were built the same way, except the foam padding was omitted and small strips of Velcro were added to the top and bottom.

Since the joints were not glued and the panels kept separating I needed to add some internal wire supports. I decided to run three separate lengths of piano wire through holes in the case, anchoring them on one side.

That way only one face was removable in case I had to dissemble it for transport. The hole at the bottom of the vertical fin was to allow for air flow or tubing for a water cooled system which I may install at a later date.

Vertical supports were added to ensure the top would not fall off when the case was moved. Velcro was added to the top in order to secure the seat covers. The entire assembly was set aside in order to work on the internal structures in the 'cooling section'.
