Installing the Fan Controllers

Next up were the fan controllers, and I also needed to cut a bezel for them. I originally bought three Scythe Kaze Master controllers, which have a blue-green display. However, these didn't quite fit into the project's black-red theme, so I later replaced them with three Lamptron FC6 controllers with red displays.

These looked much more appropriate for the theme, but I unfortunately I had to re-cut a whole new bezel for them, as the layout was slightly different between the two models. Anyway, this is the fabrication of the original bezel, which was all cut from 3mm aluminium plate with my trusty fret saw. I also hand-filed a bevel on each opening to give them a more machined look.

I also fabricated a similar bezel to cover the two Koolance RP-450X2 pump reservoirs, as well as a third opening for a 4.3in (16:9) 480 x 272 touchscreen. The idea was to keep the front of both cases clean and uncluttered, while the whole project still looked like an 840 at first glance.
