Top vent

I wanted to do something interesting with the top of the case, which is currently just a blank surface. I decided to add a top air vent to help with the case cooling.

Again, I masked the area fully to avoid scratching. I then measured an equal distance from both sides and marked the area to be cut out. In order to achieve a smooth edge, I cut 2mm inside the marked lines so I could finish the edges neatly by hand. On the right, you can see the finished result: the lines are straight, and I rounded the edges smooth with a file so you can't cut your hand on them.

Even though this will be an exhaust vent, it is nice to have a filter to prevent anything falling through the vent. Speaking of which, the grill I bought is actually an air intake grill designed for household ventillation, but I think it looks cool. Who said you need to use stuff that is just for computers?

Since I might want to take this case to a friend's house for a weekend of gaming, or maybe even a big LAN party, I needed a pair of handles to mount on the top. I found a decent pair at IKEA (where else would a Swedish modder shop? -Ed), drilled 4 holes and mounted them. They aren't a perfect match for the case, but they were cheap and it's close enough for me.
