Custom Fan Grills
Not surprisingly, the Enermax's gold-coloured, metal fan grills did not fit my theme, so time to make some custom grills.
Using a small square of red acrylic, I drew the design I wanted using some circle stencils. Using my trusty sash clamp and bench vice to hold the piece in place, it was then as simple as drilling the holes and rounding the edges with a file.
I also replaced the rear fan grill with a more circular design. While technically this design is not as free-flowing, this fan is a low output and won't be greatly affected. Plus, the new grill looks far better than the original.
Next, the sleeving job begins. I first have to mark all the wires before removing the connectors - this will make things easier later on when I have to extend all the wires to get more length.
All the sleeved wires have to pass through this ring. First step is to paint it grey... then get all the writes to fit. This was no simple task, but after a few minutes of work, I got there.
How do you like it? Quite a bit different from how it started off out of the box.
