Project: Macross Frontier

The
Silverstone Raven is a beast of a case with a strange rotated internal layout which has the PCI expansion slots facing the top of the case. After our hands on with it earlier in the year, it proved to be a strange and possibly tricky case to work with, never mind mod.
However this didn't stop milotic858 from picking it as her case of choice for her new mod and she even seems quite enamoured with it! You always need a theme in mind with a good mod too and for this milotic858 decided on the Macross Frontier anime science fiction series.
Mods based upon futuristic films and TV series have often been very popular - you only have to look at previous mods like Boddaker's
Battlestar Galactica to see how much people like them so milotic858 could be onto a winner.
Above we can see the Silverstone Raven - milotic858's choice of case to apply her skills to. At first glance it looks like a bit of a nightmare to work with and not modding friendly at all with bulging plastic panels. However the work has already begun with two sections being removed for sanding, priming and painting.
The side panel has now been taken apart with the Raven's familiar side grills on show here along with the side panel surrounds. milotic858 then proceeded to sand the sections with fine sand paper and after a clean went on to give them a coat of primer. Very smoothly done from the looks of things.
At last a bit of colour's being added to that dull black exterior! Here we can see one of the side grills receiving a rather potent shade of yellow. This case is going to look very different when milotic858's finished with it we think. We were also impressed with the side panel etching which apparently is of Macross Frontier character Ozma Lee who is the 'skull' leader.
Next on milotic858's list of things to do was a logo from the TV series which would be featured on the side panel. This was made up of several layers of acrylic and looks very neat indeed, adding more much needed colour to the Raven. Finally we can see the various sections secured together in one of milotic858's more recent posts. If you're impressed by Macross Frontier, then head over to the forums and
vote for it and don't forget to check
milotic858's project log for new updates and images of how the mod is progressing.
