Bio-mech

What? It's only September, you say? It's not time for Halloween yet? Well, it doesn't need to be Halloween for us to be inspired by a great modding project based on the work of H.R. Giger, like SPQQKY's Bio-mech.
This isn't the first time we've seen this style of mod before, including Wolverine's
Biomech 550 case. However, the stylistic differences make the two cases pretty far beyond compare. Whereas Wolverine focused mostly on the general concepts, SPQQKY has stuck to the more macabre attributes.
Fortunately, Giger's work is full of that sort of thing, and a spare Ultra case (think of it like a knock-off Chieftec Dragon) that SPQQKY picked up for a mere $30 USD would make a perfect victim.
Next stop? Hell.
The Ultra Aluminus may look like a knock-off Chieftec Dragon, but that's OK - it also makes a pretty great blank canvas to work on. A little bit of cutting and some tube later, and there would be a perfect duct.
To get rid of the slats up top, SPQQKY has replaced them with some MDF board. Of course, that's not very fun or macabre at all - but a skeleton certainly helps add to the mystique. Once everything had been put in place and sculpted properly, a layer of matte black spray-paint started to tie the creation together.
Other little details were added during the sculpting and painting, such as the skulls that line the bottom of the duct on the front panel. The startings of a fan grille based on another of Giger's drawings has also been created, lined with acrylic underneath so that it will glow from the fan lighting behind it.
SPQQKY has dropped us a couple of hints as to where he intends to go with the mod, including the figure on the right. Where will we see this fiend used? Who knows...but you can find out in SPQQKY's
worklog.
In the meantime, if a little early Halloween present is the clear winner in your eyes, make sure
to vote for it! Voting closes on October 9th 2007.
