Computex 2016 - Corsair

Corsair's suite had plenty of eye-candy on show, all as part of their Build It Better campaign aimed at demonstrating great-looking builds that use Corsair hardware. As a result, there were a host of Corsair case mods scattered about, including one by our own forumite B NEGATIVE. Modding has seen a big push at Computex and Corsair seems to be on-board with this trend too – let's see where Build It Better goes. One of the mods, built by in-house modder Blake Andes, uses the new Carbide Clear 400C White chassis.

In terms of peripherals, Corsair wasn't showing off much new. It did had the K70 Lux RGB, but this isn't being given a big push as it's essentially a refresh, adding in things like the new Cherry MX Rapid switches, improved lighting and USB pass-through.

Corsair's heritage is of course memory, and here it was showing off two new kits; the Vengeance LED modules and the Dominator Platinum Special Edition, which will be limited to runs of just 500. The former should be available in a variety of kit sizes and speeds, while the latter will come in roughly another two weeks after that in 4 x 8GB and 2 x 16GB kits running with default frequencies of 3,200MHz and higher ones available through XMP 2.0 overclocking profiles.

The Neutron XTi SSD boasts improvements to sustained performance, courtesy of an update to its Phison controller's firmware, which Corsair says is exclusive to its SSD. With end-to-end data path protection, and power loss protection, it has suitability for certain professional and enterprise workloads. 240GB, 480GB and 960GB capacities will be available at the end of June, with a 2TB one joining the family in August. The drives use Toshiba 15nm MLC NAND. The company had no announcements regarding NVMe or M.2 drives but did say it was working on something.

Fans were the main highlight of the Corsair suite, with RGB lighting being a particular focus. The SP120/SP140 RGB fans have a single, circular, centrally placed LED zone and blades that glow dimly, while the HD120/HD140 RGB fans have a whopping 12 RGB LEDs, filling the entire inside of the fans with light in a rather dazzling way. What's more, the LEDs here are all individually configurable. Both of these models will be sold in collections of two and three with a controller that you can hook up to the CUE software. The fans will also be sold on their own, with one controller able to control up to six fans.

Corsair was also showing off its new magnetic levitation fans, the ML120 and ML140 Pro models. The blades literally float when they're switched on. The technology here is licensed exclusively to Corsair from an unknown company that holds the patent.
