Corsair HX620W
Corsair has long had a reputation for making classy enthusiast grade memory. How will it fare as it turns its hands to enthusiast grade power supplies?
The HX620 is, as you might have guessed, a 620W unit. It's modular, and Corsair provides a natty little nylon bag for storing your spare cords in - and there are a lot of them. Corsair provides enough connectors to hook up two graphics cards, the motherboard and enough molex and SATA connectors to keep even the most hard-drive fanatical happy.
Corsair has made an interesting choice when it comes to cabling - it's flat. Rather than bundle the wires together, the plastic sleeving around the four wires is flat and plain black, which gives the leads a really unique look - more akin to PATA ribbon cables than standard PSU cables. It also makes them very easy to route, since they can be easily slipped underneath and through bits of the chassis.
The main unit itself has a single 120mm fan on the bottom, which is pretty darned quiet. Opening up, the insides look pretty solid, with good quality components and heatsinks.
Corsair warranties this PSU for five whole years. That's incredibly impressive, and provides good peace of mind for those who are worried about the reliability of their new system.
