F.E.A.R. is also said to support multiple threads, but our performance numbers suggest otherwise in CPU limited situations. The Athlon 64 FX-60 is slower than the 4000+, despite having an extra core and a 200MHz clock speed advantage. Interestingly though, the Athlon 64 3700+ is slower than both the X2 4800+ and X2 4400+ processors. The proceedings are dominated by AMD's processors, with all five Intel processors routed to the bottom of the table.

Increasing the resolution to 1280x960 bunched the group right up. The three Athlon 64 FX processors all managed to return the same frame rate while there was a large group of processors returning a 63 frames per second average. Only the Pentium D 940 and 930 processors scored lower than this, returning 62 fps and 61 fps respectively.

There are some elements of dual core support in this title, because both CPU cores are used when playing the game. However, the dual core Pentium 4's don't seem to hold on quite as well as we were expecting - the performance tails off below 3.4GHz, which is rather disappointing.
