The Core 2 Duo E6700 processor was around 12% faster than Intel's current flagship part in the multi-threaded MP3 encoding test. This is despite the Pentium Extreme Edition 965 having four logical cores – double that of the Core 2 Duo E6700.

When encoding video at low resolutions, the Core 2 Duo E6700 was 19% faster than Intel's flagship Presler chip. At higher encode resolutions, the performance gap increased to 22%.

Intel's Smart Cache technology appears to make some large differences, as the Core 2 Duo's memory 'score' indicates that the Conroe is nearly 15% more efficient than the Presler core at the same memory clock and timings.
