Summary:
Interestingly, the ECS PF21 Extreme suffers slightly in the lower-detail gaming tests, and is nearly 10 frames per second slower than the Intel D925XCV motherboard. However, once we place the owness back on to the video card, the motherboard falls back in to line with a mere 1 frame per second deficit when the 3.4GHz Extreme Edition was installed.
The Prescott-based 3.73GHz Extreme Edition was rarely any faster than the 3.4GHz Extreme Edition, and increasing the CPU clock speed did not have a massive impact on the average frame rate recorded. This goes to show that increasing the CPU clock speeds is not the be all and end all for gaining extra performance in today's titles, where the video card is an increasingly important part of the system.
