Battlefield 1

Publisher: Electronic Arts

From our Battlefield 1 review:

'There’s no question that Battlefield 1 is the change in direction the series needed. It’s certainly a far better fit than the fetishisation of a militarised police force seen in Hardline. It also does justice to both the scale and intensity of the 20th century’s most mourned conflict, albeit perhaps not the human horror of it (pigeon hot-potato, anyone?). It isn’t a revolution for the series, but the improved single-player and back-to-good multiplayer make it the best Battlefield since 3, and well worth a look if you’ve written the series off.

We use the DirectX 12 API and the game's 'Ultra' preset. We benchmark a section of the single-player campaign as this is the most repeatable and reliable means, though we've chosen a part that we found to be representative of the more demanding areas. Specifically, it's a manual, 30-second run through the start of the mission 'The Runner'.

That 1080 price 'cut' didn't last long did it.

..after about three weeks they started creeping up again, there were plenty of decent AIB cards for about £450. Now, apart from special offers, they're all over £500 again.

..and that's with the £ rising nearly 10% as well since they 'cut' the price.

..Don't ever try and tell me that tech retailers in this country are anything but legalised rip off merchants.

Another 4K Fail on Deus Ex for a GPU that costs more than an entire system

Same logic behind it as with petrol prices, price increases are fully passed on to the consumer, savings only partially.

Just be happy we don't have to buy PC components from an airline:

"but the 'Plus' is absent from official documentation and packaging, so we've excluded it here too."

Apart from the article title?
