Asus GeForce GTX 1070 Strix 8GB Overclocking

Even with the power limit, temperature limit and voltage offset at their maximum amounts, we were only able to add 20MHz to the core before instability set in. This saw the clock speed under load fluctuate mainly between 2,012MHz and 2,025MHz (up from 1,974MHz), and we suspect most of this is down to the increased limits rather than the 20MHz bump, which is the equivalent of only about 1 percent. Of course, this is still a very high speed and while there are almost certainly better samples out there we wouldn't bet on getting too much from any GTX 1070s that ship with speeds similar to the ones Asus uses. Still, we'd love to be proven wrong – only testing of more cards will tell.

The memory, meanwhile, was very up for some overclocking. We increased the speed all the way to 2.35GHz for an effective speed of 9.4Gbps. This is a 17.5 percent uplift, which increases maximum memory bandwidth to 300.8GB/sec.

Below are a few benchmark reruns with the newly overclocked speeds applied.
