Galax GeForce GTX 980 SOC Overclocking Results

Using the trusty MSI Afterburner, we set the power limit to the maximum of 122 percent and the target temperature to 91°C, the maximum in both instances.

With these settings, we were able to hit a maximum clock speed of 1,378MHz, which is a 150MHz increase (12 percent) over Galax's original speeds and a whopping 22 percent faster than a stock speed card. We used an extra 50mV to ensure stability. We also managed a memory frequency of 7.7GHz, a 10 percent increase. At 7.8GHz, the card was almost stable, but a few artefacts here and there led us to turn things down a notch.

At this speed, the card's boost frequency is reported as 1,479MHz, but in actuality it boosts to a constant 1,516MHz, with a maximum observed frequency of 1,529MHz.
