Apples to Apples

We did a couple of manual run throughs with the video cards all running at the same settings in order to demonstrate the differences on a level playing field. The main focus of our review is on playable frame rates and in some instances, the frame rates you see here are not playable in our opinion.

Due to the nature of the other games we have tested - three being multiplayer and the other two having relatively unscripted A.I. - it is very hard to show apples to apples performance in those games, even if we follow exactly the same route through the level. Thus, we have kept this page showing the apples to apples performance in Quake 4 and NFS: Underground 2, as the A.I. is scripted to a certain extent.

Note that these settings are playable on the GeForce 6800 GS and XFX 6800 GT, but far from playable on the Club 3D X800XL and HIS X800GTO iTurbo.

We mentioned that there was not a great deal of difference between the GeForce 6800 GS and XFX 6800 GT - this merely proves that point.
